Bowler-Tennis Club building project

Posted by SCe Comments Off on Bowler-Tennis Club building project

Members of the Piha Bowling Club voted this Wednesday to pursue a plan to build joint club facilities for the Bowling Club and Tennis Club. The Tennis Club earlier has endorsed a similar plan.

The plan involves building new club rooms in the space between the two clubs now occupied by the Tennis Club’s volley board. The Bowling Club’s existing building would be demolished and the new building would provide equivalent space for club rooms, offices, and a community meeting place/restaurant. The building would open out onto both the tennis courts and the bowling green allowing members of both clubs good views of sporting action.

The current Bowling Club rooms – the second – were opened in 1963 and are nearing the end of their life. It was found that renovation would have cost as much as rebuilding.

The proposal is supported by the Auckland Council which owns the Domain land on which the two clubs are located.

These are not final but will discussed by the clubs.
