Open Day for Piha-Anawhata-Karekare-Ranges locals 10am to 2 pm, Friday 20th February

Come and take a look at the newest Bach Escape on Regional Park. It is open for bookings the next day, so this will be your only chance.

For years on a trip to Anawhata, you passed what looked like an intriguing derelict farmhouse. The Craw Homestead was acquired by the Auckland Regional Council when it bought parkland. Now it has been fully restored to be added to Auckland Council’s Bach Escape, a highly successful venture that enables groups and families to book baches and houses in special places in regional parks for a holiday.

The Craw Homestead has three bedrooms and sleeps six. It is solar powered and has everything to make for a comfortable stay. Next door is a campground which is a stop-over on the Hillary Trail and there is a great view back over Piha from a lookout. From Craw Homestead you can walk or drive to various tracks into the Waitakeres.

Other Bach Escapes in the area are Keddle House at Anawhata, Barr Cottage at Little Huia and Paturoa at Titirangi.

To reach Craw Homestead, take the Anawhata Road and its two-thirds of the way along on the left.
