Piha Fire Brigade’s Simon Stoddart came first in the “Donned” category of the Skytower Firefighter Challenge held on 21 May. This means he was first to the top in full firefighter gear but not using breathing apparatus. Did it in 11.39 minutes! A full minute ahead of the next contestant. Amazing. Fantastic. All that climbing round the hills of Piha. Congratulations Simon. Other Piha firefighters didn’t do too badly either. They trained by running up Kitekite Falls Track and Tasman Lookout Track which both have many steps. Karekare and Bethells Beach did well in the cop as well. Here are all the results.
