A number of works have occurred around Piha in the last recent while.

Up on the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park at the entrance to the Mercer Bay Loop Track a new toilet has replaced the rather grim old one. The new one is on the south east corner of the carpark area, positioned so it does not impact on the view.

Works along Piha Road between the Kare Kare Road turnoff and Te Ahuahu Road are to create a walking space alongside the road. The works are being carried out by Auckland Transport; it is not clear what prompted this work.

Also due to happen soon, is sealing of pull-off lay-bys on the Piha Road by Auckland Transport.

Signs are due to go up on the effluent disposal field between Piha beach and the lagoon. These are to replace the missing ones and are a condition of the consent. Weed control and some replanting is also due to occur in this area.

A new sign about the Eel Bridge will soon replace the one that was removed by person or persons unknown.

Signage is also to go up for interpretation of the Lion Rock Plaque. This is to be sited at Little Lion Rock Corner. The Plaque is on the Auckland Council’s WW1 Heritage Trail.
