A body recovered at Piha is believed to be that of missing man Leka Pasiaka who went missing while swimming at Whatipu on 29 December 2018.
Pasiaka was swimming with his sister when pulled out to sea. His sister managed to get into shore and was treated at Waitakere Hospital. Searches by helicopter, coastguard and Karekare lifeguards, failed to find the man.
