Piha excells in Hyundai surfing champs

Jay Quinn won the prestigious men’s final in the Hyundai surfing champs, but Piha came away from the finals day with  great results. Elliot Paerata-Reid won the under-18 title having excelled on two large waves in his run. Waretini Wano of Piha was placed second. Mischa Davis, having won the women’s longboard earlier in the week, also came up trumps, winning the women’s shortboard. Anna Jolly won the women’s over-30s, Phil Wallis over-50 mens’s and Clive Barron the over-60 men’s. The surfing photos are from Craig Leavers (Piha).
