New rubbish bags

Posted by SCe Comments Off on New rubbish bags

The Auckland Council Waste Solutions Unit is introducing a new regional rubbish bagfeaturing a consistent design, colour (orange) and unit price, on sale from 1 November 2015, as per the images below.

The new bag replaces a range of different bags, stickers and prices that Auckland Council inherited from legacy councils in North Shore, Waitakere, Papakura and Franklin. People cancontinue to use existing bags and stickers until 29 February 2016 to allow people to use up their stocks.

The new bag is competitively priced, offering value for money to our customers. It is more convenient for people as they can buy bags from any participating retail outlet in North Shore, Waitakere, Papakura or Franklin. There is also a wider range of products now available with all areas able to choose from 40L or 60L single bags, or packs of five of either size bag.

An advertising campaign to promote the new regional bag will commence on 19 October 2015 with a ˜change is coming’ message, followed by promotion from 1 November 2015 focusing on the ˜bag that gives back’. The campaign aligns with the business unit’s focus on maintaining and growing market share, and is likely to be adapted when council bin services are introduced in these areas.

Surplus revenue that the council receives from bag sales is invested in other waste-related services and programmes, which is a key point of difference to our competitors. These are highlighted on the bag itself and will periodically change.

Rubbish trucks in impacted areas will feature images of the bag and campaign messaging. Other advertising channels to be used include a mix of council assets, bus shelters and bus backs on routes in impacted areas, posters, print ads and digital.
