Easter – knocking off the Hillary Trail

hillary Trail 1 (2)In a recent Metro, Sir Bob Harvey repeated his claims that not enough people are doing the Hillary Trail. He’d like to see it commercialised to get the numbers up.

Today (31 March) I was up on Log Race Road at midday on quite another task, and met, in quick succession, three groups on Day Three of the Hillary Trail. They stopped to say hello to the neighbour’s dog, who was very welcoming.

Two couples (unconnected), and if you look at the picture below carefully, you’ll see a lone man on his way down. He too was doing the HT.

Folks who live on Log Race Road see them going past all the time.

These walkers were on their way to Craw Homestead to camp for the night, so they still had a way to go, including the thoroughly hard multiple steps up Whites Track.
