The club was founded in 1952, and an important event is the annual Anzac Day parade to lay wreaths at the plaques on Lion Rock. The largest plaque commemorates the 17 men from the Piha Mill who died in the First World War, as well as those who were wounded and who served in the war. The plaque was unveiled in the 1920s. A second plaque commemorates men living at Piha and surrounding districts who died or served in the Second World War. This plaque was unveiled on 19 February 1950.

The Anzac Day parade is held every 25 April, commencing at around 1.45 pm from the RSA in Beach Valley Road. The parade is piped down to and across the beach, where a service is held, wreaths are laid and a bugler plays the Last Post.

Piha Domain

Piha Domain is a public reserve situated prominently in the Piha Valley. It was created from land donated by the Rayner Estate when it subdivided Piha. The Domain contains public toilets, a camping ground, Piha Tennis Club, Piha Bowling Club, and Piha Library. It is open to the public for informal activities, picnicking and just sitting about.
There are four entrances to the Domain: a pedestrian entrance opposite Piha Store, a walkway from Piha beach, an unformed accessway between houses off Valley Road, and a vehicle entrance by the lagoon.
The pohutukawa trees at the eastern end, seen in the photograph, were planted as a memorial to men fallen in WW2 by the Piha R&R Association. The southern boundary is the Piha Stream.
