No edge markings for Te Ahuahu Road

Posted by SCe Comments Off on No edge markings for Te Ahuahu Road

After recent work sealing Te Ahuahu Road, at least one resident sought white edge markings on the road to indicate where there is an open ditch.

However, Auckland Transport consulted local residents and found strong opposition to the implementation of edge markings among some residents. Auckland Transport said edge markings are only needed where there are high night traffic flows, the road is commonly subjected to fog, mist or steam, there is a high propoertion of tourist traffic flows, and where accident records indicate a need.

Based on the negative feedback and these factors, Auckland Transport has decided not to install road markings on the road, except for the intersection with Log Race Road.

The Waitakere Ranges Local Board agreed this was a sensible course of action.
